History of Our Company

Walker Machine Tools is a 3rd generation family business which was founded in 1958 by William Robert Walker.
Walker Machine Tools opened in the building Mr Walker built in Jacobs, Durban, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. The company name and clientele grew at a steady rate requiring a move to 7 Brand Road, Pinetown, Durban in 1980. The company remained there until 2006 when the company outgrew the space.
The company required an even larger premises which led William Robert Walker (Mr Walker Senior, as was fondly called by the staff) to develop and build a new premises at 3 Brand Road, Pinetown, Durban, KwaZulu Natal. He built the building with better facilities such as a 20 ton crane, loading bay, etc. The company moved into these premises in January 2006. Benefiting greatly from this move, the company has grown further and these premises are being fully utilized.

VISION

The vision for the future is “Client Service”. In other words, Walker Machine Tools aims for better client service, both at point of sale and after sale service. Our Sales Team are always ready to be of assistance to effectively deal with any enquiry you might have.

We have eight competent staff members in our technical/service division to assist with commissioning of machines and any other problems that our customers may have with their new and existing machines. We, the staff at Walker Machine Tools, all take great pride in the company and constantly work toward maintaining a high level of service which reflects that pride.

Our Legacy

Mike joined his dad at Walker Machine Tools in 1980 and has continued the legacy that his father began by growing and developing the company further. Mike has now worked in the machine tool industry for over 40 years.

Mike’s son, Chris Walker, began working at the family business in 2012, making it the third generation of family at Walker Machine Tools.
